Bookmark on non-HTML page loses the URL

If the page being bookmarked is not HTML (but e.g. PDF), then there is no location.href, which then becomes "about:blank", so the link is lost (can be an issue when storing many pages as bookmark links). Not sure if anything can be done about it. Some warning, at least in Emacs, but preferably earlier, might be useful.

In which browser? Could you provide example of PDF URL that doesn't work?
