AppImage fails to launch on Debian 11 Bullseye due to libc6 2.33 requirement

Open AVLinux opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Hi,

First, Kudos on a great and useful application!

On the recently released Debian 11 Bullseye the Appimage fails to launch because it (or at least some of the QT5 libs) is/are looking for libc6-2.33 and Bullseye comes with libc6-2.31. The whole point of AppImages are to be Distro-agnostic and to support a reasonable variety of ages of Distribution so shipping an AppImage with a bleeding edge libc6 requirement doesn't really do much for compatibility. Please consider relaxing the libc6 version you are building with to open up to the many potential Users on Debian 11 and Debian 11-based Distros.

I will second that. Great little app which I only recently found but can no linger use. Totally defeated the objective if the apimage.

I just tried to get VidCutter running for the first time and hit this problem also. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Only this version runs in Debian 12 https://www.videohelp.com/download/VidCutter-6.0.0-x64.AppImage

Can you confirm if this version is secure? @ozmartian
