proxy.pac file:// path not working on Linux. but http:// format is working.

when I used file:///path/to/pac/file, I am getting this error message. ERR_MANDATORY_PROXY_CONFIGURATION_FAILED and when I used the http:///link/to/pac/file, it's working fine.
