I vote for this as there are mirrors that are not maintained very well, breaking the whole thing httpredir tries to resolve. To me its more about having reliable mirrors.

I have this issue too. I tested it on multiple different hosts. The issue does not seem to affect certain regions, like new york to be specific (tested on digitalocean)....

This was resolved as soon as httpredir was redirecting to another mirror. Maybe a system to put mirrors on hold until they are upp again so httpredir redirects to reliable...

There is weaknesses in sha1 to; https://shattered.io Go for sha256 at least.
