Current Behavior

New Session user here. Installed on iPad Pro 4th gen running IOS 16.5.1. Session 2.3.1 (420)

I am unable to share content using Session messenger app.

Expected Behavior

After selecting the recipient I expect to see the content to be shared and a "Share" or "Send" or "Continue" button to share the content with the selected recipient.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Open an article in browser.
  2. Share the article
  3. Select Session messenger app
  4. A dialog is displayed where I can select the recipient. I select a recipient to share with. All good so far.
  5. Now the issue. I get a black dialog and inside the dialog it says Link Preview disabled. Enabling link previews for URL's you share. This can be useful, but Session will need to contact linked websites to generate previews. You can enable link previews in Session's settings. This dialog only has a cancel button in upper left corner. There is no share button. The content I shared is not displayed nor is there anyway to share it. The only thing to do is tap Cancel.

iOS Version

16.5.1

Session Version

2.3.1

@whisperdancer Are you still experiencing this issue?

Testing on iPad it should show an input field at the bottom of the screen with a Send button, pressing this button allows you to send the URL as plain text. In order to send the URL as a Link Preview you first need to enabled Link Previews via Settings -> Privacy -> Send Link Previews.

If you don't see this input can you please send through a screenshot of what you are seeing? Do you happen to have a bluetooth keyboard connected to the iPad?

Maybe their should be a button to enable link previews in the link previews are disabled dialog!. It's not good user experience for user's to have to go to settings to enable it.

No, works fine now. Thank you. However, sharing a link to session on ipad is super slow, but fast on android phone. So on ipad I have to copy and paste the link to session. Then it works fast. However, it's a total pain to have to copy and paste links when I would like to just share to session.
