I started observing the same behaviour.
In my case, a recently pasted image from the "linux (Ubuntu 20.04)" Session client (v1.11.5) into a private group that seemed to have been sent (according to the linux client).
But, on an "android 12" Session client (1.17.0), the image never loads. A black empty section was allocated and a green bar on the lower part of the allocated section continuously sliding left to right then right to left seems to indicate some loading "in progress", but never gets the image...
Following is an attempt at an anonymous capture of the Android 12 client v1.17.0
Also the "icons/avatars" identifying the authors left of their posts "after" the "never loading" image seem to be flickering.
While writing the message, I realized that the latest released version of the android client is v1.17.5 (2023 begining Decemer) on github, while it is still v1.17.0 (2023 mid-July) on Google Play Store.
After updating the android session client (1.17.5), the icons flikering stopped, but the missing image is still "loading".

I started observing the same behaviour...
Note: a new attempt at sending the same image to the same group on another day worked. (while the previous image message is still "loading"...)
I face a similar issue, observed that this occurs only when pasting screenshots from desktop and it is not received on android. But when screenshot is pasted on android it is received on the desktop.
