Supersedes stale #8511 and includes @tbsbdr's design requirements (at least partially)

@dj4oC Bene is on vacation this week. What's the release deadline? I've had some back channel discussions with @tbsbdr on the final concept, but didn't end up finalising it since it didn't seem very relevant in the past months

I agree that it's a great idea (hence me starting to take over), but you didn't answer my question regarding the deadline?
Feature freeze was last Friday (18th of October). Since I consider a design and UX overhaul an enhancement we can't include it in the upcoming release anymore.
Happy to discuss this enhancement again next week or so if your time @pascalwengerter permits. But as I said, not for the upcoming production release, but "only" for one of the next rolling releases.
