Ability to see the creation date on uploaded files and folders

Open junglebells opened this issue 10 months ago • 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I have several files and folders with same/ similar names. Imagine multiple backups of your documents folder over different time periods. I can see the last modified date on files (not folders though - logged a bug), however there is no option to see the orginal create date. It would really help to know when the file was originally created (in addition to when it was modified) - this is especialy true for images (photos & videos)

Describe the solution you'd like

I would like the ability to display creation date for a file/ folder in the user interface, and the ability to sort on that field. This should be in addition to the modified date field.

Describe alternatives you've considered

There are no clear alternatives. This information seems to be lost once a file or folder is uploaded to oCIS

Additional context

The operating systems (i user MacOS) carry this metadata and is clearly available in the finder/ file explorer window. It would be nice to have this ability on oCIS as well

@junglebells Thank you for your feature request. Unfortunately, the cs3api does not provide the create time for ResourceInfo only the last modification time. https://github.com/cs3org/cs3apis The alternative way to get the create date could be:

  • For the folders, you can find the creation date in the Details -> Activities
  • For the files Activities and Versions, can give you edition information.
