Open corsch opened this issue 9 years ago • 21 comments

Hi,

It would be very useful if someone could add a “WiFi only” option for the Instant Upload feature.

Best Regards, Corvin Schmid

I recently switched to iOS from Android and I dearly miss this feature on this platform. The instant uploads are crucial but they drain my mobile data.

Thanks for making instant upload work through the GPS trick.

+1 and optionally to have separate options for photos vs videos. i.e. (from Google Photos app): Photos back up using cellular data: On/Off Videos back up using cellular data: On/Off

This would be very important to me. (However, I can't seem to get Instant Uploads to work at all right now. :()

Thanks to @Jon-Schneider for the interest in contributing in this feature!! Keep us updated!!

In the OC Android App the instant uploads settings option looks like: androidinstantuploads

Stumbled upon this feature request while trying to understand why the wife's iPhone (iOS 9.3.1) wasn't behaving as her old droid phone did. I guess this is still a work in progress.

It's coming. I have to find the time to rewrite uploading with a way to end uploads that have already started (for when users go from Wifi to WWAN) in order to implement this feature.

@Jon-Schneider - That's great to hear. This will be a welcomed feature!

I've found another app called PhotoSync that works fairly well around this apple constraint. It uses the location tracking to set a "home" location. When I arrive at home it starts up the app in the background and then looks for my wifi. Once my wifi is connected it uploads the photos. If the ownCloud app could do the same thing then I think it would be very useful.

@Jon-Schneider Any news from your side? :)

It's currently targeted to have Wifi-only Instant Upload in 3.5.2, with that ability to just Instant Upload Video or Photos in 3.5.1.

Does this project publish a roadmap with milesstones/target release dates?

graysky2 avatar Oct 17 '16 10:10 graysky2

Any News on that? This burns the data plan if enabled, why does it take so long? The request is more then 19 months old, don't you think it's time to do some magic?

I'm using the nextcloud client now, it has this feature...

doomi avatar Dec 23 '16 01:12 doomi

Is the nextcloud app compatible with owncloud/server?

graysky2 avatar Dec 23 '16 02:12 graysky2

Currently yes. Not sure about the future releases.

Lol... i bougth the owncloud app yesterday, was a little wasting of money since it doesn't have the upload only on wlan option. Well lets spend some cents more for a better app.

That this option is missing is a shame!

You can always ask for a refund.
