[FEATURE REQUEST] Offline mode startup

Open savinoda opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I have deployed Owncloud core on a single board computer that I have at home. In my local network I sync from time to time my pictures/videos/files with it. The board is not always on but I keep a local copy on my files in the phone by using the "Make available offline" feature available in the app. The problem is that every time I start the IoS app it looks for the server and it hangs indefinitely (because of course it does not find it on). Then, I have to put the phone in offline mode and I can access the files that I previously made available offline. I cannot access the files from "Ios Files" application because it hangs as well.

Describe the solution you'd like Would it be possible to add an offline startup mode so the app does not look indefinitely for the server? Even a view with "looking for server" and then a button that says "Go offline"

Describe alternatives you've considered I usually put the phone offline to go ahead

I keep having problems with this, and now the app is almost unusable in this setting. Is there anyone that plans to do anything? I mean, if you offer the possibility of making available files offline and then the server is not reachable I should be able to see those files. I understand that this is more a feature to save bandwidth, but it should work also either way. If the server is not reachable, the app should not hang forever and keep trying to contact the server. There should be the possibility of saying the app not to try to connect to the server and go with the offline files.

Before upgrading from server 10 to OCIS 4.0.2 this problem did not exist for me. It looks like a “recent” bug.

I second this request, please check if the root cause can be identified.
