[Android] New settings

WHAT Needs to be Documented?

New settings have been developed using AndroidX to substitute the previous ones, which were deprecated. There are also some news about these:

  • New structure by subsections. The purpose of each subsection is the same as the previous equivalent category, except for the "Camera uploads" category, which has been divided into 2 different subsections: "Auto upload pictures" and "Auto upload videos".
  • The 5 clicks in the app version item (at the end of "More" category) are not needed anymore to enable the "Logs" category. Now, they are always visible and inside the subsection, they can be enabled or disabled. Also, the app version item (now in the main settings screen, together with the subsections) now provides a copy of its summary into clipboard with a simple tap, useful to send feedback to development team.
  • New preferences have been added to "Auto upload pictures" and "Auto upload videos" subsections. Now, they have different "Camera folder" (which is the source folder where the files are taken from) and "Original file will be" (the behaviour files will follow after being uploaded) preferences, whereas in the previous version, they were common preferences for both pictures and videos.
  • Now, settings are accessible from login screen. If no account is attached yet, the "Auto uploads" subsections will be hidden. This will be very useful for users that experiment errors in the login screen, since previously they couldn't access the logs, but now they do.
  • Error handling in passcode and pattern preferences has been changed. Now, instead of a Snackbar with the error, a red text will be shown.

You can take a deeper look to every detail in this epic https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues/2867, linked to every single issue that was involved in its development. Related to the settings accessible from login, it was developed in this issue https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues/2638. Related to error handling in passcode and pattern, they were covered in these issues https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues/2722 & https://github.com/owncloud/android/issues/3215.

WHERE Does This Need To Be Documented (Link)?

This section should be updated with the new appearance and features of the new settings https://doc.owncloud.com/android/#application-settings.

WHY Should This Change Be Made?

As mentioned above, settings have a new appearance and features, so it would be very useful to update documentation related so that users find accurate and updated information.
