Hi @PseudoMortus! Thanks for opening a new issue! 🍻
I guess you're referring to the welcome wizard, right? It would be very helpful for us if you upload a video reproducing the problem you are reporting here, so that we can understand better and maybe locate the bug in code more easily. Thanks in advance! 🚀
Also, you can try to enable the Touches with other visible windows option that is placed in Settings > Security section. It will prevent other apps to set light filters or similar when using the app. Are you using any app on this purpose?

Potentially, assuming the welcome wizard is past the part where it goes over what all you can do with Owncloud.

Went ahead and did so, though the output shows a black screen once it gets to the "insert domain" portion. I'm nfs if that's relevant, however at the black screen all those taps you see me do don't trigger anything. No keyboard, no link opening, nothing.

That would be great to try... if not for the reason this issue was opened in the first place...

Maybe...? I have an app that controls my phone's brightness and backlight, though that would be it. It depends if that counts as an app that can, "set light filters or similar,"
Wrong button press, apologies

Sure enough it does. In that case, might I suggest a way to note somewhere to keep in mind light level changing apps when getting things set up? That way the app doesn't just get deemed unresponsive because someone's default setup until this can get fixed (if possible)? Or by enabling the Touches bit by default (again, if possible).
Also f* github's buttons XD
However, reopening the issue given once the touches setting is enabled, it still doesn't seem to work. Turned it off to set things up, but even in the app I can't access files at all. The side menus I can, but not the files themselves.
Hi @PseudoMortus! That's strange 🤔. Could you try disabling the brightness control app completely and then checking if the ownCloud app is working as expected? That way, we can conclude if the problem is using both apps at the same time 👍
It is when using both, when I turn off the backlight tool, I can access the files again.
That seems to be an issue of the backlight tool then... Anyway, these kind of apps are pretty outdated, aren't you able to do the same with some OS native configuration instead of a third-party app? Just asking, maybe I'm not considering some specific use case 😬
Given the last update on my particular app was May 3rd, 2025 and its release was the April prior, I don't think my app falls under your preconceived notions on these apps' outdatedness, however given the ability of this app in particular (that being can go negative beyond the 0 brightness default of the android OS itself, protecting eyesight in the dark), so unless there's a setting I've missed that allows android itself to go negative in its brightness setting, I'm a bit out of luck on that front.
For reference, this is the app: https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/lsafer.edgeseek
As for it being an issue of the backlight tool, I find that hard to believe when there is a setting (suggested previously, the "Touches" setting) that is supposed to bypass that, sounding as though it's the bypassing technique that requires work.
So, we should review how the "Touches" setting is working and why is not working fine with such tool... will update here
