Concept: article page updates

Core problem

The articles published on ourworldindata.org are a core part of communicating our work. These pages could benefit from additional design work (improving layout and typography), added expressivity (creating new reusable components), and a more streamlined authoring process.

Proposed solution

We'll iteratively update the article pages across a number of engineering cycles. The rough roadmap is laid out below; each of these individual bullet points are their own projects and we can discuss the details of each on the relevant issues.

July Release

• Prototype of Google Docs based authoring flow with refinements based on author feedback (#1459)

August Release

• Updated design of the layout and typography of article pages (design only - not implemented at this point)

October Release

• New design of article page layout implemented

Q1 2023

• Additional reusable components implemented and available for use across article pages

Note, we still need to schedule a production-ready implementation of the Google Docs authoring workflow. The exact scope and timing of this will depend on the feedback of #1459 and the amount of changes required.
