No longer updating the sheet

Open Bocalau opened this issue 3 years ago • 11 comments

Hi there,

Without any changes to the code except the oauth2 ID and Key (both of them issued properly through Google console), it seems that it stopped updating the sheet with new data.

I log in -> it creates the Citable folder and the spreadsheet doc -> inputs the columns and the first row of data

After that, if I want to keep adding data through the extension, after I click save it says Updating Headers and then I get an error: 404 Check Your Document Columns

Nothing has been changed. It was working fine yesterday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

To troubleshoot, I've tried:

Using the default oauth2 and key (basically, I used the extension without modifying anything) - didn't work Reinstalled Chrome - configured the extension again - didn't work Removed permissions from google account - set everything up again - didn't work

I too got this problem a couple days ago.

Troubleshooting.

Use Edge, as I don't use it. My edge is empty - no settings changed. Install citable in Edge, login to citable with a google account I don't use much, david1212. I can save one page to a new sheet. The second bookmark attempt of another page throws the error.

My best guess is that the version of the Google APIs that Citable uses have been deprecated or modified. I have a full refactor in the works, but I'm not sure there is much that can be done until then. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Based on the feedback in the Chrome developer console, this may (or may not) be the issue: https://blog.chromium.org/2021/05/update-on-user-agent-string-reduction.html

Curious to know (ballpark) when the refactor will roll out?

I think you're right. Looks like the v3 sheets API was turned down on August 2, just days before the issue was opened. I'm not really familiar w/ the API, but at a glance I see mentions of gdata v3 in this repo. They've got a migration guide here.

Is migrating part of your refactor?

Yep, part of refactoring is migrating to the latest version and making it easier to migrate in the future. Again, sorry for the outage.

Hello everyone!

Do you maybe have an idea of when Citable will be back?

Thank you a lot

I’m sorry can’t give an estimate.

Hello,

I've just run into your plugin (I was thinking of writing one myself, and was actually looking if there's a something similar out there) - and since there is - I gave it a go.

It seems that, as others pointed out - it works only once.

So, I can create a new sheet, and save one cite/bookmark, but second time it tries to "update headers" (whatever that means) and it fails.

I see this is a long lasting problem now (probably small user base) - but did you have time to debug it? Do you know where about is the problem?

I'd really love to have it fixed and usefull :)

Cheers. I

I've actually got a version of this working on the new API (with a couple updates and added fields). You can find it here if it's helpful: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/disco/enmlcobbiembjgoomhjdpldlalhldjca

Note that it may require I permission you in since it's not public.
