What do the ldms_auth_munge permissions mean?

Can someone please explain to me what the ldms_auth_munge permissions means? I assume that the read bit determines if the entity is permitted to read the data from that metric? What about the executable and write bits? What do they do?

The documentation should be updated with the explanation as well.

Additionally, the "ldms_ls" command lists a leading dash before the permissions:

meminfo        opal160/meminfo             CL    2536    448     50     50 -r--r----- 1595415491.001620          0.000355 "updt_hint_us"="1000000:0"

This seems to hint that the setuid/setgid/sticky bits can be set in the permission, but when I add that digit in the configuration, I am not seeing those bits set. I have no idea what those things would mean in metric context...so something else to be clear about.
