Plaintext automatic backup / fall-back in .pad .calc file?

Any chance the current .pad format (that pretty much only stores a URL as text) could be extended to safe a plain-text version of the pad as a fall back / backup?

I feel the need for this too. Using an ephemeral link doesn't really feel like having a document.

You can always Export the pad to plain text and keep that. That's not so bad. The plaintext etherpad format is pretty close to markdown.

Nice would be also if there was some automatic regular back-up of the sheet from Ethercalc, via the download feature (I guess the .csv version?). Because contrary to Etherpad, ethercalc doesn't seem to have a historic timeline and thus calcs can be vandalized pretty easily (even accidentally) and there seems to be no way to go back to an earlier version. Having this feature in Ownpad would be a seriously cool improvement over default Ethercalc.

I am putting a bounty of 50€ on this if anyone is interested ;) I know it is not much, but maybe others want to chip in?
