How do you build ghostium from source?

After a lot of faffing I managed to install some missing dependencies to get the default grunt task working, but when I initiate the build it misses things out like font awesome. Do you have any docs or notes on how to build from scratch? I would like to make some tweaks to the theme for my blog.
