Thanks for the suggestion! The most important question right now is: Are OpenStreetMap contributors allowed to use this as a source for mapping? (I cannot find anything on the osm wiki, which isn't a very good sign, but maybe I'm just not looking at the right language pages.)

This would be the aerial imagery layer from yandex.ru, right?

Based on https://github.com/openstreetmap/operations/issues/1033, Yandex satellite images cannot be used for OSM mapping
