Reverse geocoding reports wrong municipality

Open dieterdreist opened this issue 6 years ago • 4 comments

I just tried this query: https://www.openstreetmap.org/search?whereami=1&query=42.6383%2C12.5623 and the result for the municipality is "San Gemini", but this is actually in "Terni" (admin_level=8).

The address comes from Strada Provinciale Carsulana which goes through both municipalities.

Duplicate of #328.

Reopening this as #328 only covers the case for addressing. Doing reverse geocoding we'd have to do a similar on-the-fly computation against the input coordinates.

Need to specify municipalities term to each country, for example in Indonesia municipality is from admin_level=5

@jboxx Please open a new issue for Indonesia. What you describe is mapping admin_levels to field names, e.g. municipality. That is configurable, per country, and we best if you provide multiple examples of addresses and their expected results. The linked issue 328 is more specific about roads crossings city/municipality boundaries and unrelated to the mapping of admin_levels.
