combine list and detail view

For some use cases it may not be sufficient to identify a specific entity from a datagrid list. Here it may be necessary to quickly click through several entries in a list (or search result). For this reason it might be useful to give datagrids the option of keeping a compressed list view on the left side while displaying the entities detail view on the right. This way the user can choose another entity to show in detail without having to go back to the list.

For example a call center scenario where it might take a bit of question asking to be able to match up the caller with an entity in the system.

Thanks for request @lsmith77, we have "Expanded and detailed record view for Grids" on our roadmap where we'll implement this feature.
