Search Addresses by Contact Name in OrganicMaps

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I'm often frustrated when I search for a contact's name in OrganicMaps, and it doesn't show the address associated with that contact. I save important addresses in my contacts, and it would be convenient to search for them using the contact's name, like Google Maps allows.

Describe the ideal solution
I would like OrganicMaps to search for addresses stored in the contacts when I search for a contact's name. This would allow me to find locations by referencing the name of a person or business, rather than needing to manually search for the address.

Describe alternatives you have considered

  • Right now, I copy the address from my contacts and paste it (or write it) into the OrganicMaps search bar, which is not very efficient.
  • Google Maps allows contact addresses to be searchable by name, making it much faster to locate these places. It even allows you to search for multiple addresses for the same contact: Screenshot_2024-10-19-10-27-04-65_3d9111e2d3171bf4882369f490c087b4

Additional context
Adding this feature would streamline finding addresses and improve integration with contact information, making OrganicMaps more versatile for users managing both personal and business-related locations.

I won't like to allow apps to access my contacts unnecessarily. To me it's a privacy violation. It has to be granted voluntarily and explicitly only.

I agree. I don't like Organic Maps become a clone of Google Maps copying their bad practices. If this feature is implemented it should be off by default, and only ask for permission when user wants to activate it.

Sure, I completely agree with you! I never meant to make it look like it should do it in the background.

It should definitely be an opt-in feature and maybe even be able to import only specific contacts/addresses (but I don't know if that easy or feasible)

Seems closely related/duplicate of this one: https://github.com/organicmaps/organicmaps/issues/3474
