"New messages" line in the chat window

It would be cool if there was an indicator that would show me the new messages since I last saw the channel.

How it would work is that when I switch to a channel that has received new messages since the last time I checked, the UI would display and indicator to show what was the last message I saw.

This could be as simple as a line after the last message I saw as it would tell "everything under this line are messages you haven't seen yet".
