Software backlight does not work on OPI CM4 with Raspberry PI DSI displays like Waveshare 4.3inch DSI QLED that emulate official Raspberry PI touchscreen attiny regulator. It can be supported by include rpi_touchscreen_attiny driver (rpi-panel-attiny-regulator.c) and proper overlay with 7inch-touchscreen-panel-regulator
