does OS requirement make sense

Here https://github.com/oracle/fmw-kubernetes/tree/master/OracleUnifiedDirectory/kubernetes

is defined that OS should be Oracle Linux 7.3 or higher but as per me this doesn't apply to whole containerization idea. I understand base image must be Oracle, but why Kubernetes node cannot be Red Hat or Ubuntu?
