Unable to get the new version of Nostalgy to work properly since the update to Thunderbird

Open jenniedo opened this issue 5 years ago • 9 comments

When I hit the 's' command on my keyboard to save an email to a folder, it assigns a star to the email instead of saving. I have already tried uninstalling the old version of Nostalgy and reinstalling the latest version. Any thoughts? Thanks!

@jenniedo: please give us some more information ...

Which OS? Which version of TB? Which version of nostalgy?

With W10 1909, TB 68.3.1 and nostalgy 1.0.16a - I have not testet the latest version of nostalgy - I could not confirm your problem.

OS: MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 TB: 68.3.1 (64-bit) (i.e. the brand-new one, as specified) Nostalgy: nostalgy1.0.21.xpi (i.e. the latest release, as specified)

@jenniedo: that happens if it does not recognise the preset action for s etc.

What happens if you reassign the letters in the options? Does it work then?

Hi opto, Thanks for the advice. I've used Nostalgy for years but have never had to do that with a new version, so I'm honestly not sure how. Could you give me some specific instructions? Thanks!

tools - nostalgy settings , on the reesulting page tab keys - verify the right letters are entered and confirm.

That fixed it! Thanks so much for the help.

Just for the records: I had the same issue after updating Nostalgy from 1.0.16 to 1.0.21. After re-assigning the keys, Nostalgy worked as expected again.

One observation: While re-assigning the keys I noticed that the representation in the configuration interface changed from s (lowercase) to S (uppercase). Maybe that's a lead.

System specs: TB 68.2.2 (64-bit), Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS, Gnome 3.28.2

I'm having the same problem again since upgrading to the new version of Thunderbird, and have been unable to use the old (above) solution to fix it. Anyone have any leads?

My current details: OS: MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 TB: 78.11.0 (64-bit) Nostalgy: Nostalgy++ for TB78 2.3.1

actually, this is the wrong (old) forum. Please use nostalgy-xpi on github.

This issue deals with this problem, https://github.com/opto/nostalgy-xpi/issues/111 please also try the latest release https://github.com/opto/nostalgy-xpi/releases/tag/v2.3.10

and answer in #111 in the new forum.

. Thanks, Klaus
