Using RegEx in Rules and searches

I am sorry to use this forum for a help question, but I hope someone can help me make RegEx work. I created a new rule modeled on the example in nostalgy++ help. I selected From field. The rule says "/^[email protected]$/" without the quotes

It says apply it to the Inbox folder & save it to the !ToDo folder

But when I save it and then click apply rule, when I look in Tbird, the rule is in the search field, but nothing is found. If I delete the RegEx symbols, the rule finds the messages.

If I can at least figure out why this is not working, I hope to create rules that are useful to me. If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong, I would appreciate it. --Chris

I think - but am not quite sure - that I saw today that regex might not work if search is restricted to match the beginning of the folder name. Maybe that is set for you?
