OptiScaler.log

Since there has been an active increase in new issues without any basic info to help troubleshooting, we're releasing this Issue Report Template that should help troubleshoot without our magic 8 ball. Going forward, issues that do not follow the Template will be ignored.

Game name and version:

Hogwarts Legacy (Steam)

Mods and mod versions used

OptiScaler v0.7.9

GPU

RX 7900XTX

OS

Linux (Arch)

Used automated or manual install?

  • [ ] Automated
  • [x] Manual

If on AMD/Intel and Automated, used DLSS inputs?

  • [x] Yes
  • [x] No

Also please mention in description which upscaler inputs are used (which upscaler you selected in game settings). FSR3 and DLSS used

Did you check the Wiki and Compatibility List?

  • [x] Yes
  • [ ] No

Please describe the issue and steps to reproduce it

The game seems to be locked to 27-30 fps no matter what with optiscaler loaded

I have attached

  • [x] OptiScaler.log (set LogLevel=0 and LogToFile=true in OptiScaler.ini, zip it if too big)
  • [ ] Screenshot of game folder (where you placed Opti)
  • [ ] Screenshot of Opti overlay in-game (opens with shortcut, default Insert)

Please provide logs for the situation.

@cdozdil I've attached logs to the op :)

Since you're using dxvk-nvapi according to the log, did you also add Fakenvapi by any chance? If you did, then maybe try removing it to see if that fixes it.

@TheRazerMD I did nothing more than run the setup_linux.sh after copying the optiscaler files to the Hogwarts Legacy folder, so I would assume that I did not add Fakenvapi (?)

If you didn't specifically download it, you indeed did not add it since 0.7.9 doesn't include it.

This seems like another Linux specific issue which we can't troubleshoot since our only Linux maintainer is gone for the time being and the rest of us don't use it. Maybe try switching Proton versions?

TheRazerMD avatar Sep 25 '25 13:09 TheRazerMD

@TheRazerMD Tried GE-Proton10-14 to GE-Proton10-17, Proton 10.0-2 (beta) and Proton Experimental.

Tried setting different env vars:

  • RADV_PERFTEST=aco
  • PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0
  • PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
  • PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1
  • PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1
  • DXVK_FRAME_RATE=90
  • PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1

Tried running with and without mangohud and gamemoderun commands.

Nothing of the above seems to make any difference unfortunately.

Hi, could you try setting PROTON_DISABLE_NVAPI=1? If that doesn't work then I would suggest removing OptiScaler.ini, removing game's prefix, verifying game files, using proton experimental (bleeding edge branch) and using the build of OptiScaler that I provided in the zip. Do not use any extra envvars. With that clean setup please provide a new log if the issue persists.
