BUG: Zimming of FDIC Money Smart Site Fails
URL Attempted
https://www.fdic.gov/consumer-resource-center/money-smart
Describe the Bug
Attempting to zim the FDIC’s Money Smart site via the Zimit interface fails with the error message:
"Your request has failed! Sorry about that." A number of reasons can lead to a ziming failure. Most of the time this comes from an inadequate URL…
Even after multiple retries and URL verifications, the error persists. This is a publicly accessible, non-dynamic government resource that we’re attempting to archive for offline use.
Expected Behavior
Zimit should successfully capture and package the FDIC Money Smart website as a ZIM file for offline access via Kiwix.
Steps to Reproduce
- Go to https://zimit.zim.dev/
- Enter the following URL:
https://www.fdic.gov/consumer-resource-center/money-smart - Submit the request
- Observe failure with red error banner and no zim output

Context
We're using Zimit and Kiwix to make government and educational websites available offline in correctional facilities. This site would be extremely valuable for digital financial literacy programming.
Why did you modify default settings?
-
Wait until: networkidledoes not seems to be necessary + this is not an appropriate value anymore (our fault, this is the cause of your recipe failure, remove it and it should be way better) -
Behaviors: clickmeans nothing, this is not a known behavior. Keeping default behaviors is probably fine. -
Extra hops: 2: do you really want to go beyond the current website by two level of HTTP links?
This website seems anyway pretty difficult to ZIM, especially if you only want resources related to Money Smart stuff.
