Thumbnails and video playback not working in Chrome `v57-52`

After the upgrade to video.js v8.17.3, on Chrome v57-52 the UI loads but the thumbnails are not loading and video.js displays an error as shown below. Sometimes when the page is reloaded the video playback works.
