Review and cleanup/deletion of obsolete/unmaintained/low-value IP telephony packages
Hi there,
I’d like to propose a comprehensive review of the current set of packages in the telephony feed with the following goals:
- Identify and deprecate obsolete or unmaintained packages – Several packages appear to be outdated, unmaintained upstream, or have not been updated in years. These should be considered for removal to reduce maintenance overhead.
- Reduce scope to essential, actively maintained software – To ensure sustainability, the scope of the telephony feed should focus on popular, secure, and actively maintained projects. This would also help streamline testing and updates.
- Simplify maintenance and reduce long-term costs – A narrower, well-curated set of packages will help reduce the burden on maintainers and contributors, and ensure better user experience and security.
Due to very limited personal capacity to maintain this repository, I believe it's important to proactively reduce complexity to ensure that what remains is manageable over the long term.
Suggested actions:
- Perform a high-level audit of existing packages.
- Deprecate and schedule removal of outdated or low-value packages.
- Consider setting minimum inclusion criteria (e.g. upstream activity, security updates, actual usage).
- Identify which packages are considered core or recommended.
Feedback from other maintainers and contributors is very welcome.
Thanks!

@ubaldus, I see that miax was not mirrored to GitHub from the SourceForge. It looks like that miax is not maintained. Is that right?
It is indeed a very old project that has not been actively maintained for a very long time.
