RE200v4 never worked

Open brada4 opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Describe the bug

tplink RE200v4 seems not completely supported, almost like other device image is served.

  • swconfig shows 5 ports and 1 disabled then system port gig, only the port 4 is exposed outside device, luci shows sys port off
  • dts has usb and sdcard controllers, there are no visible even solder points on mainboard
  • 5GHz caldata is off in 10dBm range no matter region set. It is connectable 10cm apart. MAC addresses are as on casing
  • wiki page tells fairytale of downgrade protection - no such thing, OEM firmware file is named with square brackets and gets rejected. Any release 21.02.0 up to todays snapshot

OpenWrt version

OpenWrt release

OpenWrt target/subtarget

ramips/mt76x8

Device

TP-Link RE200 v4

Image kind

Official downloaded image

Steps to reproduce

Just install openwrt, luci switch gives broken appearance, says "SYS" port is down, port5 kind of looks like one outside, at least follows cable status iw reg set 'BE' iw list 5ghz channels are underpowered.

Actual behaviour

5ghz radio should work Switch config from 5x bigger device

Expected behaviour

web ui mostly matches config commands, no enabled spare devices in DTS, "supported" look.

Additional info

can provide like mtd copies if needed. Serial seems less than 5V I have. OEM firmware works fine, even being of age.
