Hi, sorry for the lengthy downtime of the ASU server the other week. After returning to a laptop I figured that it's not a server problem but an issue with the hypervisor. A misconfiguration broke the IPv4 access (IPv6 continued to work, duh), rendering the service unusable for most users.

The hypervisor is maintained by a small number of skilled individuals and part of a community I trust, I have no doubt this was accidental with no bad intention, just to be clear about that.

A number of people wrote me messages if I need assistance maintaining the server, thanks for those offers! I can't give anyone access to the server just like that, however I'd very much like to encourage people to spin up "rebuild" servers. Specifically, after a successful firmware build on the primary instance, your server is asked to create the same image and then firmware hashes are compared, verifying a correct image. In a perfect scenario multiple communities and individuals offer those servers, first used as rebuilders, later as redundant backups, eventually maybe replacing my involvement in maintaining it. Please reach out if you see yourself in the position host and maintain such service, if you need help and advice, I'll try my best to help you. A small VM for 5$/m should be enough for a good start.

This server https://sysupgrade.antennine.org can be added as a rebuilder. It runs on a fork with imagebuilders dockerized based on alpine, but I verified that the resulting sha256unsigned are equals with those produced by https://sysupgrade.openwrt.org. By now It use pre-built podman images only for latest_stable and oldstable versions

• because sometimes pulling from registries takes too much time (say more that 10m)
• and to keep control of the amount of podman images downloaded, and the space occupied in the server It lacks snapshots but I'm adding containers also for snapshots even though it can take up to 5-6minutes to download an non-chached compressed archive of an imagebuilder.

Hello @aparcar. I would like to provide a rebuild server, it is available here: https://sysupgrade.guerra24.net. Validated it by building images for my devices and it matches other rebuild servers. It's not the fastest thing, but I will be upgrading the host soon.
