Wiki asks for confirmation code before saving changes without sending one
When I try to edit a wiki page, after hitting the "Save" button, a text box appears that says "enter confirmation code." No code is sent to my email, and there is no other explanation for what confirmation code it would like. I am on a OnePlus 7T with OxygenOS 10.0.11.HD65AA. It happens on both Firefox and Chrome, and with all ad blockers turned off. Here is a screenshot.
I have received emails from the wiki before, so I know my email address is not misspelled. There is also nothing in my spam folder.
Interestingly, when I switch to the desktop site, I get a CAPTCHA instead of this confirmation code text box, and after doing the CAPTCHA, the edit works. So this seems like the CAPTCHA is just broken on the mobile site.
user is not 'autoconfirmed', so captcha NOT skipped. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AUserRights&user=Dead10ck
For reproduction, check on account actually forcing recaptcha.
Has there been any progress on this? The wiki is still broken on mobile months later.
I don't think anybody knows what causes it. We have a captcha enabled for certain things but I'm not aware of us enabling anything that involves confirmation codes.
There seems to be an issue with the interplay of "VisualEditor" and "ConfirmEdit" extensions. As a workaround (for new wiki users), one can use the traditional code editor to create the page. The issue was reported as https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T248024.
