Resolve note dialogue lacking

Open jidanni opened this issue 6 years ago • 4 comments

User does not know what to put into the textbox. So please put some grey words saying so in there. User thinks the textbox is for entering his report for reporting offensive notes. User expects hitting the Resolve button will start some step by step process where he is first put into the editor, etc. So the grey instructions should say "after you have corrected the problem (via editing, etc.) mention what you did in this box, including any Changeset numbers".

Well I think the problem is more that the "Report" link could be better placed - the box is not just for resolving after all, it's for commenting. In fact you can resolve without a comment.

That, as well as renaming the button to “Mark as Resolved” (emphasis mine), to distinguish that pressing it doesn't actually do any fixing of map data, by itself, it merely marks the note as having been resolved.

Else, at the very least, use past tense: “Resolved” (because it should be (in map data), before closing the note).

Why? Well, I suspect that it may be the factor at work with user repeatedly closing notes without actually resolving them. Sometimes causing photos from StreetComplete to be prematurely deleted.

Also, encourage users to cite the changeset in the closing comment.

"Report this note" has been moved to the bottom of the page:
