`crossing:signals`

StreetComplete recently added support for crossing:signals https://github.com/streetcomplete/StreetComplete/pull/5471 which signals to me that we should consider adding support as well.

Maybe something for the https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/ID/Community_Chats/2024-02-28 which is earmarked to talk about the crossing tagging.

Update: I see this field is added in https://github.com/openstreetmap/id-tagging-schema/pull/1044/files already

By the way, it’s crossing:signals, plural. Rapid also has this field as of facebook/Rapid@b0079098ad1931bdf9ed91b4420548b0371b9109.

@1ec5 in our iD Community Meetup you had a few examples where the tag is "in use" already. Can you share those here as a form of documentation to include the tag (the yes-version) regardless of the state of the proposal?

I went through GitHub several months ago looking for data consumers that support various crossing-related keys and tags, documenting this support on the respective wiki pages. Currently, as far as I know, GraphHopper and Per Pedes Routing support crossing:signals. This is in addition to the three editors that support the key.
