Square connected buildings together

Open tordans opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

Since we seem to be in a squaring mood, this might be the right time to suggest squaring two buildings at once.

Please feel free to close this for being to detail oriented! :-D

UseCase: Two glued buildings need squaring. I square one which is fine. Then I square the other, which unsquares the first.

ATM, I just repeat this until the buildings both look OK, which works some times.

Ideally, I could select both and square them.

Example:

  1. Bildschirmfoto 2019-04-23 um 19 11 38
  2. Bildschirmfoto 2019-04-23 um 19 11 49
  3. Bildschirmfoto 2019-04-23 um 19 11 54

I would really love this feature - I hate the infinite squaring loop I run into with townhouses. JOSM currently has this.

It seems like you can square a lot of buildings at once by shift-selecting them. The only downside is that they seem to get squared separately and at the end, after holding Q for some time you can end up with something that doesn't match reality (too narrow/too wide building or shapes that are way off, if the buildings share more than one side).

Workaround: Draw empty line around both. Select all three. Square a few times. Remove empty line when resolved. Though, with hinging corners / complicated shapes it does not always work.
