Photo overlay all on / all off toggle
Description
In "Map Data" > "Photo Overlay", have a button to toggle all on / all off.
Also note there is another Overlay menu in "Backgrounds". Thus confusing.
Hey @jidanni, may you provide a screenshot because I can't find the button to toggle all on/all of?
@Gaurv82013 Sorry for the confusion. I am saying I wish there was such a button.
Motivation: I turned some of them on. Now I want to turn them all off in a hurry.
This can currently be done by using Shift + P Toggle active street level photo layers. (was #10321)
(documented at; Right sidebar, at bottom > Help menu > Keyboard Shortcuts > Browsing > Display options, at end of section)
See also #10972, #10673 and similar, #8826.
Huh, the user digs deep down in the menus and finds no master checkbox/button, when all along there is a keyboard shortcut?
Well then that checkbox should be added, with the shortcut mentioned in parenthesis after it, I'd say. Please.
Hi @jidanni đź‘‹
I have implemented the requested “Photo overlay all on / all off toggle” in Map Data → Photo Overlays.
âś… Added a master checkbox that:
Toggles all street-level photo layers ON/OFF in one click
Stays fully synced with the existing Shift + P shortcut
Displays the shortcut clearly in the label: (Shift + P)
Keeps other photo layer controls visually disabled when all are turned off, while the toggle itself remains clickable.
This improves discoverability for users who don’t know about the keyboard shortcut and resolves the confusion around there being no visible master control in the UI.
📸 I’ve attached screenshots showing:
Toggle visible in the Photo Overlays panel
On / Off behaviour
Sync with Shift + P shortcut
If this approach looks good to you, I’ll go ahead and open a Pull Request for review.
I'm sure it must be good. (Of course I'm not in charge here.)
