Designer Portfolio hosted on GitHub?

Open elioqoshi opened this issue 7 years ago • 7 comments

I was thinking that as Open Source Designers, it would make pretty much sense to have our individual portfolios hosted on GitHub/ GitHub Pages. Is there anyone doing that or do you know of anyone? I'd be interested in trying this out myself, but I'm no frontend designer and don't know much about this.

Anyone who is interested in this?

I host my portfolio on GitHub but it's not really a designer portfolio. If you need inspiration -> https://github.com/simonv3/personal-site

@simonv3 HTTPS is broken and the site is also.

GitHub doesn't support HTTPS.

~But aside from that the site does look broken.~ I'm switching to Netlify right now.

Edit: Fixed the site.

@simonv3 Github does not support HTTPS natively, but you can use CloudFlare to get it. Anyway, Netlify looks cool!

@m1guelpf Have a look in this discussion for some thoughts on the whole HTTPS situation & GitHub

@simonv3 I have been using CloudFlare for 3 years and never had any problem. I also usually login uing TOR, and I haven't had any problem disabling that captchas. Also, the other solution (kloudsec) is down and the owners don't answer in ProductHunt, so it migth be dead.

@m1guelpf sounds like that's something to report in that thread!
