Icons don't appear on desktop at startup

Occasionally, the tool icons don't appear on the VRE 1.1.ova desktop at startup. Resizing in windowed mode makes them appear. If not solvable, let's then at least document this workaround. No reusable way to reproduce this issue, unfortunatly.
