Should we merge the theme into this repository?
Currently the theme is a separate repo - https://github.com/openownership/data-standard-sphinx-theme
This was done at the time because we were not sure of it's use and if it was going to be used for other web sites too.
Now however it seems clear that it is not being used elsewhere and won't be.
In which case there is no benefit to having it in it's own repo, and we just have the downsides of complexity.
So should we merge the theme into this repository?
(We would need to check I18N considerations)
The other reason to separate out the theme is to have a consistent theme, with changes made in just one place, across multiple different versions of the standard.
@odscjames @siwhitehouse and I had a talk about this today. We agreed not to merge the theme repo into the data standard repo for the moment. We should make an explicit decision before reaching BODS v1.0 about whether to keep the theme separate.
In the meantime we should have some discussions about related issues. For example, how do we store and update non-core docs (like info on governance of the data standard).
@kd-ods I've updated the Notion ticket with initial planning towards BODS v1.0 to make sure the issue about merging the theme repo into main BODS repo is considered
