Add a candidate's fundraising map to each candidate's page
Three reasons:
- Put everything about a candidate on one page.
- Many folks aren't clicking on the candidates' names to uncover the other maps.
- Low hanging fruit. It should be fine to add snapshots instead of interactive (for expediency). A simple image tag.
Sounds reasonable. What's the workload to do this? @vbrown608
I think this would be pretty easy to implement. I'm worried that the bubble maps aren't very useful without the context of other candidates' maps to compare to. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
@vbrown608 You do lose the benefit of comparing candidates, but the map is still useful in understanding the geographical distribution. If it's a low-cost thing, it sounds like a nice touch.
On the home page, the bubble maps are like everything else: comparing the candidates.
On a candidate page, the bubble map gives shape to the contributions listed on that page. Without the comparison, it's more about the spread (diffuse or all in one place), the weighted center (in the hills or downtown or the flats), and how much from out of town.
And the big circles? They pushed my eye to the biggest contributors.
The map on the candidate page makes the page feel connected to the home page too. It's a visual/info parallel, the way the math bar is kin to the home page's candidate table.
