Missing icons defined in the style

Some icons seem to be missing in the current definition of sprite.

I've raised similar on other projects - it seems that no-one is keeping any of the tile sets up to date. I assume that there is a master icon set somewhere - but I don't know where.

I've reached out to OSM about the missing icons such as brownfield as they dont even seem to exist in the openstreetmap-carto style.

If I can get them and get them to the right size I'll see what I can do to get them added.

They basically said Style issues were nothing to do with them and told me that I'd have to wait for an answer here.

So who is responsible for keeping the OSM styles up to date as new icons are are added into the data set?

According to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_Icons,

There are many sets of icons and rendering systems are hugely flexible in which icons are used, so it's perhaps unfortunate that people tend to be most interested in the icons used in the renderer defaults.

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SymbolsTab could be used as reference.

It's worth considering that the mapping data itself might be faulty and defines mappings for symbols where non exist. For what it's worth, here is the commit that introduced the POI data: https://github.com/openmaptiles/openmaptiles/commit/dbec752ed17c1f91a10a4f5e04be2b59cb3835f7

Disclaimer: I'm mostly unfamiliar with OSM and only came across this issue because one of those console warnings in a map demo got me curious. :)
