multi-language support
we'd like to translate the docs into multiple languages
yay! some relevant docs from vuepress: https://vuepress.vuejs.org/guide/i18n.html
I'd be happy to get started putting these into Spanish. I'm a court-certified interpreter and have an MA in translation. Let me know what's the highest priority, and I'll get to work.
@mapachurro that would be awesome! No real priority - we'd be excited to see whatever you find most interesting to translate.
@mapachurro Cool 🕶 I am also looking for help translating simple agreements into a variety of languages. E.g., I did a quick translation of an OL template into Spanish if you want to take a look!
original: https://app.openlaw.io/template/Founder%20Accord
rough translation: https://app.openlaw.io/template/Acuerdo%20de%20Fundador
Ro5s -- Did you do that translation personally? It is for the most part good; however there are several terms that are false cognates within the legal context; 'conmemorar' is like something you'd do at a remembrance ceremony; 'memorialize' is, according to Black's, making a memorandum, so you'd want to go with 'hacer constar' or 'hacer acto de', something to that effect. There are similar issues with:
-ejecución (you use it properly at the end of the document, but not at the beginning) -cubierto -entrar en un acuerdo -'Vesting' is left in English
So my point is: if this is machine translation, then wow, if not, then good job, and I'd be happy to proofread these sorts of texts for you and polish them up.
Also, outkaj -- sounds good! I think I'll start at the beginning with 'getting started', and go from there.
@mapachurro - - thanks for the notes! I will make those changes and take another look. 🗒
As for this Draft:
I actually just used Google translate 🤖 (my Español is pretty basic....). Specifically, I copy/pasted my markup from Founder Accord into a Google Doc and then ran the 'translate' tool.
Again, I appreciate being able to better learn about 'legal context' here; this is still an unfamiliar subject with me for Español. In the coming weeks, I would like to do a similar translation of basic documents from this collection for startups: https://github.com/Ro5s/Startup-Starter-Pack (and hope I can occasionally check translation of some legal terms with you! 🙏 )
Hey Guys,
I do not know if someone already did that but I am available to help with the translation in French of the documentation.
JM
@jeamick no one has done a French translation yet. That would be great if you could help with that! Thank you.
hey @outkaj is there a branch or a structure to start to contribute for translating the docs ?
What are the parts that most people are using ? No problem :)
@jeamick thanks for offering to help out with a French translation. Let us get back to you on which sections to start on. We're in the process of reorganzing and updating content so want to make sure that's set first.
