Unable to get/set lights

Open e-lisa opened this issue 2 months ago • 4 comments

There appears to be lights when I run openhue get - However openhue get lights returns nothing

Output of openhue get lights

$ ./openhue get lights
ID Name Type Status Brightness Room
----   ----   ----   ----     ----         ----

Additionally I cannot seem to set lights via openhue set light (using the light IDs found in openhue get:

openhue set light a4eb187d-b48e-4550-9b53-4e65ca21d9fd --on
no light(s) found for [a4eb187d-b48e-4550-9b53-4e65ca21d9fd] in room

See attached for output of openhue get and openhue.log

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help debug this further.

openhue.log openhue_get.txt

Hi @e-lisa - could you confirm that all your lights belong to a room?

It seems that I only have groups setup using the "Hue Hello" app, with no ability to define rooms.

I tried getting the Hue "official" app https://www.philips-hue.com/en-us/explore-hue/apps - But it refuses to install on my older version of android (typical).

Surely there must be a way to control lights via groups/zones instead of rooms? Or add lights to a room with out the official app? Am curious what you know, would be interested in creating a pull request if needed.

I did borrow a friends phone to create the rooms - and it does work fine

We can close this ticket. I will look into room creation this weekend and try to see how hard of a task it is! Thank you for your hard work on this project!

@e-lisa I believe that the openhue get lights command should be able to list lights even though they don't belong to a room. I will reopen this one and see if I can bring a quick fix for that.
