[RFC] Things changes and improvements

There has been various ideas how to improve the thing behavior and handling. Since these things tend to get lost I'm trying to use this issue as an overview issue to link to the corresponding issues. Currently this only contains issues by me but I'm more than happy to keep this list up to date. Just comment on this issue and I'll modify the list accordingly.

@openhab-maintainers Any chance we can have a discussion on thing improvements? That way it would be possible that these improvements might make it into the next Christmas release.
