QFieldSync – Exported TIF raster layers not loading in QField on Android
What is the bug or the crash? What were your expectations and what actually happened?
When exporting a QGIS project with QFieldSync, TIF raster layers fail to load in QField on Android, even though the exported project works correctly on the desktop. The shapefile layer configured for Offline Editing is exported and loads fine on both desktop and QField, but the TIF rasters appear with the error "Layer could not be loaded" in QField on Android.
Steps to reproduce the issue
Create a QGIS project containing:
shapefile layer configured for Offline Editing in QFieldSync.
Several TIF raster layers as background maps.
Use QFieldSync Configure current project to set the layers.
Export the project with Package for QField.
Verify on desktop – all layers load fine in QField.
Copy the exported folder to Android device.
Open the project in QField – shapefile loads, but TIF raster layers fail with “Layer could not be loaded"
Expected Result: TIF raster layers load correctly in QField as they do on the desktop.
Actual Result: TIF raster layers are missing in QField on Android, even though they are present and correctly referenced in the desktop version.

Reinstall QFieldSync
- [ ] I have a fresh install of the latest QFieldSync version on a new QGIS profile, but the problem persists.
- [ ] Problem can be reliably reproduced, doesn't happen randomly.
- [ ] Problem happens with all files and projects, not only some files or projects.
Additional context
TIF files are physically copied to the exported folder.
Path settings in QGIS are set to relative.
