QField Cloud - Better error messages

Open Ipickedausername opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Hello,

For any kind of project that I create on the cloud, I always have the same error : ""

When I try to download a project with one layer, it is working. So I guess there is something with my projects. But with this message, I have no idea about what is wrong.

I create a cloud project for each layer, but the error is the same for all the geometric offline layers. And sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. For the same project, sometimes I have an error message like the one on the picture, and sometimes I can download it.

Sans titre

Is there a way to have more information about this error, when it happen ?

Thank you.

Hey @Ipickedausername , thanks for the comment. For sure there is a lot of room for improvement on error feedback. However, everything we know is already shown to the user in the web UI. If you go to your project's web interface and check the jobs of type "package", you can see all the logs.

The other place to check is the extra logs in the QField app itself. However, it is a bit more limited there. Hope it helps.

Just checked your project, seems there is something very slow in it that makes it fail to finish in 10 minutes. It seems you only have two XYZ layers as online layers, but try removing them and things might speed up. Note all online layers can have variable performance (the same in QGIS), there is no guarantee that the remote online service (WFS, WMS, WMTS, PostGIS etc) has a relieble and fast connection to the QFieldCloud servers.

Hi,

Thank you for this information. Indeed, we have access to the logs, but there is always the same issue: "Timeout error! The job failed to finish within 600 seconds!" I have no idea of the cause of this issue. I tried by removing XYZ layers, I even removed everything from a project, the same issue is happening, but not systematically.

When I'm using QField, I need a map with the best accuracy possible (to compensate with the low accuracy of the GPS here). If I remove these layers, I'll not be able to use the project anyway.

I uploaded a project but asked to remove all the layers, it took the same time as other projects to upload (it looked like something was updated). When I try to download the project, I have the same error.

I tried exporting only the layers I use to work with. Same error. There is no problem with internet here, but using data. Currently, QField cloud is only working when I'm using 1 empty Shapefile layer, without map background.

I recreated a project with same layers, also made a few tests, deleting the heavier layer. This is not working. I spent days to try everything possible, sometimes it works, sometimes not. I not sure QField cloud is operational yet. If I had an error message to give a clue about what is going wrong, that would be very useful.
