Proposal for a logo
That looks nice!
Two comments:
- Can you add the actual file to the repo? (now it's only included through a link to githubusercontent in the readme)
- We probably need to check with the Apache Parquet project that such a derivative logo is not a problem

Anybody has a connection the Apache Parquet project that we can ask about this? Would be good also to get their opinion on the initiaitve!
George Percivall is an OGC member I know is part of the Apache somehow, but anybody else has a contact to ask if this is ok for them?
Apache itself has a trademark policy (https://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/), but I don't know if such a derivative logo is discussed in there. Parquet also has a dev mailing list that could be used to reach out. And cc @shangxinli who is the current PMC chair of Apache Parquet.

Yes, that should be possible, like 
If design support is needed for this, OGC has a graphics team on retainer that is able to support, especially since there is a solid scope of work laid out already. They created our APIs and Rebrand materials and are hungry to get more involved in the dev space.
Oh good to know! I am waiting for an answer from the Parquet team and depending on that we decide.

Like to help, but generally, the Parquet community doesn't allow the Parquet logo to be used that way. Sorry about that!
So as per discussion separately with the Apache Foundation, they will prefer if we do not use their logo as a base for the initiative. So lets cancel this PR and @Jfath1508 would be great if we could get some support for a logo from OGC yes.
Closing this, recent consensus was we shouldn't aim for an independent logo as we hope that Parquet eventually just has our geo stuff as a standard and people could just use the parquet logo.
