Considering adding all the supported ScummVM games?
As you already know, ScummVM supports a lot of games and a number of developers are working on new engines for that as we speak. However, only a small amount of original games are added here. It will be awesome to have a complete list to raise the awareness of the reimplementations available in ScummVM (specially, for unstable/testing engines which require playing them and reporting issue).
In summary, are you considering adding all the supported ScummVM games or it is not something you want? (At least, it seems #596 could be a blocker).
Yes I think this is the way to go. Initially scummvm was added as its own thing because osgc did not support games cloning/supporting lots of games, but now we can
What is the best to way to proceed? There are some lists of games here as well as the ScummVM wiki (e.g. https://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php?title=Category:Supported_Games).
A few important points:
- There is no need to add every single game, since some engines support a very large amount of non-commercial games (e.g. ags and some text adventure engines).
- We could also get an "exported" version of the list of games and engines, in case that helps to generate the data for the website.
- Engines has different states, some of them are very mature, and some are experimental and need testing.
Until #596 is fixed, we can only add the playable engines. Not familiar with AGS but we don't want to add engines, only games where the player optionally needs to provide their own game data and nothing more
Why exactly this was labeled as game-blocked ?
Until https://github.com/opengaming/osgameclones/issues/596 is fixed, we can only add the playable engines.
