Android app give no option to extract nutrition/ingredients from image when nutrition/ingredients image is uploaded

Open Jagrutiti opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Describe the bug

  • I was adding this product in the Android app: https://world.openfoodfacts.org/product/8904052566069/vanilla-ice-cream-dinshaw
  • I uploaded the nutrition image. But it did not give me an option to extract nutrition data from the image. I only had the option to add it manually. As far as I remember, earlier, there was an option to extract nutrition data from the image itself. Or was it a Hunger game feature and not in OFF?
  • Also, to extract the ingredients from the image I had to go to the history tab. Then click on the edit product button, and there, there was an option to extract ingredients from the image.

To Reproduce

To Extract nutrition data

  1. Upload a nutrition image to a product in the Android app.
  2. Look for the button to extract nutrition data into the nutrition table.

To Extract ingredients data

  1. Upload an ingredients image to a product in the Android app.
  2. Look for the button to extract data.

Expected behavior

  • The button to extract data from the image should be visible as soon as the image is uploaded or when the user is going to update nutrition or ingredients.

Automatic extraction of nutritional values is currently not possible. We do extract some nutritional values in Robotoff automatically, but this data is not available through the API. But it's definitely something we're interested in.

Probably fixed for ingredients by https://github.com/openfoodfacts/smooth-app/issues/3018, with pending https://github.com/openfoodfacts/smooth-app/issues/3263.

I am not sure if this problem is still present, but if so yes 😄 @dhivya0413

Please split in two: I believe we can extract ingredients, but not nutrition facts (and it's not available in off-dart).

This issue is resolved for me. While not automatic, there in a button to do this under the ingredients list.

That's amazing to hear @skillman623

We roughly say it takes about 10 minutes for every score generation to be triggered. But as raphael0202 said above, the "automatic extraction of nutritional values is currently not possible" without human assistance.

@Jagrutiti I'm going to close the issue, if you still have this issue drop a little comment and I'll reopen it :D
